THE UNBROKEN PROJECT
In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, Anthony Alvarado is bringing UNBROKEN to Orlando’s Mills Gallery!
UNBROKEN is a community portrait and storytelling project inspired by the loss of Anthony’s son, Gavyn, to accidental fentanyl poisoning in 2020. What started as a way to process grief has grown into a space where people can share their stories, honor loved ones, and remind others they are not alone.
Come walk through the gallery. Read the stories. Sit in the lounge. Enjoy coffee, music, and conversation. Connect with others who understand. If you’d like to participate more deeply, you’ll also have the opportunity to share your story and be photographed by me as part of The UNBROKEN Project.
.
Many participants are parents and family members who have lost a child or loved one, but this space is open to anyone impacted by overdose, grief, recovery, resilience, or hope. Together, we honor those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and create spaces where healing can begin through connection, conversation, and storytelling.
This free event is on Sunday, August 30th, from 5:00 - 9:00 pm.
THE WINN WIN EMERGING ARTISTS EXHIBITION 2026
The WINN WIN EMERGING ARTISTS EXHIBITION 2026 is here!
Created by Juan Pablo Santa Luna and late philanthropist Michael Winn, and continued through the legacy of Gail Winn, this program was built with a clear purpose: to identify and elevate emerging artists with the potential to shape the future of culture.
Now in its THIRD year, the program has evolved beyond celebrating emerging talent into a platform where artists Camila Gonzalez, Greyson Hertzendorf, Rese Lazo, Angelina Palminsano and Bethany Skena confront identity, transformation, recovery, cultural heritage, and the courage to redefine themselves!
The exhibition also extends its impact beyond the gallery by donating a percentage of sales to the Hi Kid Foundation, a Central Florida nonprofit organization for children with cancer in low-income families, reinforcing Mills Gallery Orlando’s belief that investing in the community creates lasting change.
The Opening Reception is on Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:30 p.m.
Produced and Curated by Juan Pablo Santa Luna.
